Queen’s Speech to Parliament. Watch ceremony and State opening of Parliament.  The Queen outlined plans for 26 bills.  Law and Order dominated the government’s agenda.

The Army’s Household Division were among military personnel lining the streets and escorting the Crown Jewels and Her Majesty The Queen’s procession from Buckingham Palace to the House of Lords.

This is the Queen’s 65th State Opening of Parliament. It comes in the middle of Brexit negotiations and unrest among politicians. Also, accusations that Prime Minister, Boris Johnson lied to her when he prorogued parliament.  He was also found guilty by the Supreme Court.

Measures to help the UK prosper after Brexit set out in the Queen’s Speech.  Law and order also key elements.

Plans to end free movement of EU citizens into the UK and provide faster access to medicines will be unveiled.

Ministers say a Brexit deal is a “priority” and they hope one can be passed through Parliament “at pace”.

But the UK and EU are still involved in talks ahead of a key summit.  A Downing Street source said they were “a long way from a final deal”.
