Live Boris Johnson statement .  He will deliver it to the nation at about 6PM.  Boris aims to set out the choices facing MPs.

The issue of Brexit – deal or no deal – seems to have come to a head.  Boris Johnson is challenging MPs to make a decision in favour of his Brexit plan.  He is not planning a general election but analysts are not ruling it out.  It could still happen.

Tory ex-ministers planning to  join forces with Labour to stop the UK leaving the EU on 31 October without a deal.  PM has always said no-deal must remain on the table.  He re-iterated UK pulls out of EU October 31.
