Cervical Cancer Campaign – launched by the Government.  It’s the first of its kind

National initiative started 5 March to counter 20-year low for cervical screenings.  About 2,600 women diagnosed with cervical cancer in England each year.

It is estimated that 86% of cases could be prevented if everyone kept regular visits.

The video ad urges women to book a five-minute test which could save their lives.  It is part of a major awareness drive for cervical cancer.

It is the first national cervical cancer campaign to be launched by the NHS called ‘Cervical Screening Saves Lives’.

Almost a third of women aged 25 to 49 have missed their latest smear test and in some surgeries three-quarters have not had it.

Experts have attributed the fall to fear and embarrassment as well as a lack of convenient GP appointments.
