Emmy Awards 2018: Thandie Newton and Claire Foy among British Winners. It was a night packed with movie stars. The auditorium was packed

Claire Foy, Thandie Newton and Charlie Brooker were among the British winners.  The glitzy occasion was the 70th Primetime Emmy Awards.

Foy won best actress in a drama series. It was for her role as Queen Elizabeth II in Netflix’s royal epic The Crown.

Welsh actor Matthew Rhys also took home one of the night’s big prizes. His prize awarded for best leading actor in a drama series.

Game of Thrones won two prizes. One for best drama series.  The other for supporting actor for Peter Dinklage. The Marvelous Mrs Maisel scooped five comedy awards.

Director Glenn Weiss used his Emmy Award acceptance speech to propose to his girlfriend.  She is  athlete Jan Svendsen.

Two hotly-tipped shows failed to replicate their successes from last year. Atlanta and The Handmaid’s Tale went home empty-handed.

Elisabeth Moss had been the pre-show favourite. She was forecast to win best drama actress for the second season of The Handmaid’s Tale.  She lost out to Foy.

Do you agree with the winners?  Weren’t they marvellous.  We thought the marriage proposal rocked💍.  What a romantic occasion. The guy went down on one knee!!  Very nice.  We like that sort of thing.
