Geraint Thomas Seals Victory in Tour de France 2018.   The yellow jersey was officially awarded to him in Paris on the Champs-Elysees

The Welsh cyclist became Britain’s third winner of the Tour de France when he crossed the finish line in Paris.  It is the first time a Welsh person has won the race.

Team Sky rider, 32, follows Sir Bradley Wiggins in 2012 and four-time Tour champion Chris Froome as Britain celebrates a sixth win in seven years.

Thomas crossed the line alongside Chris Froome.  This confirmed his final margin of victory at one minute 51 seconds over Team Sunweb’s Tom Dumoulin, with Froome a further 33 seconds back in third place.

Geraint Thomas’ Tour de France victory should not be considered a shock win. His entire season has been planned around the race, says his Team Sky boss Sir Dave Brailsford.

Brilliant race by the young Welshman.  He has had amazing support not only from fans, supporters but also fellow cyclists.

Geraint Thomas was all smiles after riding 2,082 miles en route to winning the Tour de France.  He managed to sip champagne on the last leg of the race.

Proud to fly the Welsh flag as he headed for home and the finish line
