England Beat Colombia On Penalties – a tough game but they did it. Yaaaay🙌🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

England’s new generation ended the World Cup penalty jinx by knocking out Colombia.  They did it on spot kicks to reach the quarter-finals.

Eric Dier scored the winning kick after Jordan Pickford’s brilliant save from Carlos Bacca’s attempt. England’s first ever World Cup shootout win sets up a meeting with Sweden in Samara on Saturday.

Gareth Southgate’s side had been seconds away from the last eight during normal time.  Harry Kane’s penalty after he was fouled by Carlos Sanchez in the box looked as though it was going to send them through.

But they made it with a magnificent game.

It was tough.  There were many knocks, kicks and tumbles. Lots of penalties all on both sides.  But it seems Gareth Southgate wanted his team to stay calm and just play good football.

Colombia was an angry side.  They thought they had won until the penalty kick out.

What did you think of the game?  Were you able to watch it without fear?  Or did you watch it through half closed eyes?

Tell us what you thought.  We believe it was one of the best games in WorldCup18 so far.  Drop by our comment box.
