A great movie to open such an important film event.  MCQueen is thrilled his film chosen for the occasion

Here’s how it goes

The movie is a blistering, modern-day thriller set against the backdrop of crime, passion and corruption. Widows is the story of four women with nothing in common except a debt left behind by their dead husbands’ criminal activities. Set in contemporary Chicago, amid a time of turmoil, tensions build when Veronica, Alice, Linda  and Belle take their fate into their own hands.  They conspire to forge a future on their own terms

A great film with excellent performances. The women have guts and intelligence.  While the men are criminals eventually killed

It is fantastic to see Liam Neeson land in this film. He becomes more appealing as he gets older. Good to see him in a role that takes him out of the box.

Film Quotes

What has happened in the world that noone passes as excellence. When did we know how it stands?  We are all living in an environment where people are blind.  What you don’t see you don’t know.  Out of sight out of mind.

Something happened tonight something bad.  Our husbands aren’t coming back.  They stole a lot of money.  Now people want it from us. The best thing we have going for us is being who we are.

Why?  Because no-one thinks we have the balls to pull this off.  If this whole thing goes wrong

Does this film interest you?  Do you like thrillers? It has a great story line.  Women are the main players.
