Meghan and Harry in Brixton – Friday March 2 the couple announc 2,640 members of the public invited into the grounds of Windsor Castle for their wedding day May 19.
Harry and Meghan greeted by crowds of well-wishers at community radio station Reprezent, in Brixton. The station trains youngsters in media skills.
Ms Markle wore a Marks & Spencer sweatshirt, Burberry trousers and a Smythe coat. It was her first official engagement this year. She looked fabulous.
The founder of Reprezent FM, Shane Carey, welcomed the visit. He said: “We’re having the spotlight shone on us from all the world’s media.”
During the stay Ms Markle praised male presenter YV Shells. He is known to promote women on the station.
She said: “Empowering the women to make sure they’re in a space where it’s not as much [male] driven. To be the man, supporting, I think that’s incredible.”
Harry and Ms Markle also visited Pop Brixton, a community project housing local start-ups and restaurants. This is a popular area especially with the local young people. Brixton also has its own currency which can be used locally.
Brixton is one of the most stimulating boroughs in the Capital. It has a reputation for being creative. It has experienced years of many issues and struggled to overcome serious crime.
The crowds just loved having the couple in the area. Many of the residents are of Caribbean backgrounds. Some said the presence of Prince Hay and Meghan suggested the Royal family was eager to mix more closely with all communities.
Kensington Palace also revealed today (9 Jan) that Ms Markle has closed down her Instagram, Facebook and Twitter accounts. The social media would not fit in with her new lifestyle. Although she did enjoy the work she did on the sites.
Prince Harry’s fiancee took the decision because the accounts “haven’t been used for some time”. Ms Markle also ran her own lifestyle website, The Tig. She closed the site in April 2017.
The palace said the former actress and UN ambassador was grateful to everyone who had followed her over the years.
