PM Calls FIFA Outrageous.  The Prime Minister has strongly criticised FIFA over the poppy wearing row and called them ‘outrageous’.

During Question time in Parliament (November 2) Theresa May said football players had the right to show their respect for war veterans.  And they should not be denied the right to wear a poppy.

The Sun newspaper broke the story Tuesday (Nov 1) saying that FIFA had banned the players from wearing the red poppies. FIFA said it was wrong

Scotland and England are due to meet at Wembley on 11 November, the day when the United Kingdom remembers its war dead. The match will be a World Cup qualifier.

Both teams are challenging FIFA’s decision believe they have a right to wear the poppy
