An amazing scene in Liverpool.  Women can be proud. It was extremely windy but a great help in getting to the finish line.

The incredible event can be watched again.  Don’t miss the spectacular scenes on the River Mersey.  Massive crowd cheered the arrival of the yachts.  The sailors had been at sea for 11 months. Families on the quayside eager to catch with their loved ones.

Over 700 everyday people from 41 nations have taken on the toughest oceans on the planet.  They span triumph and tragedy, in the 2017-18 edition of the unique Clipper Round The World Yacht Race.

The diverse amateur crew endured massive storms, hurricane force winds, freeing temperatures to stifling tropical heat. Medical evacuations and a shipwreck.

This marks the end of a year-long challenge (49 weeks) over 40,000 nautical miles in 13 races.  It was done between six continents in identical 70ft ocean racing yachts.  It is anticipated that the finish will see the first female skipper to win the global series in the 22 year history of the race.

The only two women leading teams out of eleven entries currently lead.  They will battle it out over the last few days of this leg, potentially down to the final sprint race up the Mersey.

Watching yachts sailing into Liverpool is one of the most beautiful scenes of summer.  They look magnificent as the wind fills the sails for the final stage.
