Alexander McQueen:

My shows are about sex, drugs and rock ’n’ roll. It’s for the excitement and the goosebumps. I want heart attacks. I want ambulances.

Fashion is a big bubble and sometimes I just feel like popping it.

Every fashion designer wants to create an illusion, to create things that disturb people.

Do you remember the headlines when McQueen fashions took to the catwalk?  He had an amazing ability to capture the industry’s hearts and minds.

Alexander McQueen was born and raised in East London’s working-class Stratford neighbourhood.  Nothing in the background hinted at his future. The youngest of six children, Lee might have been expected to become a plumber.  A bricklayer or perhaps a cab driver like his father. Instead, McQueen’s fierce romanticism and punk poetry helped create 1990s-era “Cool Britannia.”  A celebration of youth culture in the U.K. For perhaps the first time since the Swinging Sixties, a lad from the East End of London could — and did — become one of the most original and influential artists of his time.

Will you go and take a look at the movie?  You will get in insight into how the young creative worked through his fashion designs.

McQueen must have been the most interesting of designers in the world.  He was outlandish outrageous and above all the most sort after in putting a piece of cloth together.  But he was his own person.  He lived life to the full.
