Smith, 28, now misses the fourth and final Test of the series.  Bancroft, 25, fined 75% of his match fee and got three demerit points.

Smith admitted a charge of conduct “of a serious nature that is contrary to the spirit of the game”, said a statement from the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Steve Smith was asked at a press conference whether he would consider standing down.  He said no.  He was ashamed of what happened but would continue as team leader

Australia’s Prime Minister was livid. Malcolm Turnbull couldn’t believe what he heard when he woke up Sunday morning.  The PM was shocked and disappointment that the team had done such a thing.
