BAFTAs Sunday 18 February – BBC One 9pm.  Competitive awards.  One of top awards for the industry to receive or hold

The Shape Of Water leads the way for a whopping 12 nominations.  It is a great movie and deserves recognition.

Host of the BAFTAs awarded to Joanna Lumley.  She takes over from Stephen Fry after ten years of him presenting the ceremony.  We will miss Stephen Fry.  He was always good fun.  But we welcome Joanna Lumley.  She is also a barrel of laughs.

Top actress could go to:  Annett Bening – Film Stars Don’t Die in Liverpool

Leading Actor: Daniel Day-Lewis – Phantom Thread.

Best film could go to:  Call Me By My Names.  Darkest Hour, Dunkirk, The Shape of Water

Top Director could be:  Denis Villeneuve – Blade Runner 2049

The choice is enormous.  So many great and wonderful artists and movies. Films are wide and varied in subject and content
