UK Chooses SuRie for Eurovision 2018 – it was a live performance and the audience went wild. She will be representing the United Kingdom in Lisbon, Portugal.

Congratulations to SuRie.  She sang Storm and it went down a storm with the people of Britain.  This is the song she will sing at Eurovision in May.

Her winning song, ‘Storm’, impressed the jury and viewers the most in Eurovision You Decide live TV show.  It was written by Nicole Blair, Gil Lewis and Sean Hargreaves.

Rylan from the panel said: You have come out here tonight and absolutely smashed it. It’s got the message… it was amazing, I think you are outstanding!

Responding to the audience’s reaction in the Brighton Dome, Rochelle Humes said: This room doesn’t lie and they absolutely loved it.

The singer was chosen by half public vote and half jury choice in the selection show. It was hosted by Mel Giedroyc and former Eurovision winner Mans Zelmerlow.

There were six contestants in the competition to win the slot.  SuRie was number five.

A little bit about SuRie

She performed as a backing vocalist and dancer in 2015. Then returned as a Musical Director in 2017, giving her an insight to the show that the other hopefuls won’t have.

SuRie’s musical career started early as a child soloist.  She has performed for the likes of HRH Prince Charles in iconic British venues such as The Royal Albert Hall.  Also St. Paul’s Cathedral and at venues all around the world, including St. Mark’s Basilica in Venice.  Lucky lady!  But good talent deserves it.

The singer is a graduate of The Royal Academy of Music.  She started writing songs when she was just 12 years old. SuRie has held residencies in Jazz lounges throughout London. Performed backing vocals for artists like Chris Martin and Will Young.

She loves ballet. When she was younger SuRie used to wish on every eyelash and every time cutting a cake that she would get into the Royal Ballet School. Before rocking my ‘Peter Pan’ look, SuRie used to have hair long enough to sit on. Her nickname is Squidge.
