PyeongChang 2018 Mica McNeill British Bobsleigher – crowdfunding to finance her Winter Olympic dream

Financial  ‘mismanagement’ at British Bobsleigh ended Mica McNeill’s hopes of a place at the 2018 Winter Olympics. This did not stop her.  She decided to crowdfund the money needed to complete her season and remain in contention.

She did so successfully, in just five days.  Mica didn’t think she would make it.  But completely overwhelmed by the response she got.

The former County Durham netballer and hockey player competed at the 2012 Youth Olympic Games in Innsbruck. Mica won a silver medal alongside Jazmin Sawyers.

McNeill’s successful career has snowballed since then and she went on to taste North American Cup success when she won gold in Calgary in 2012.

In November 2017, she and Moore finished fifth at the Whistler World Cup – the best result for British women in more than eight years.
