In fact three crew members from Expedition 53 returned. It was a perfect landing. Parachute opened on time and dropped them on earth with a bump! Cameras monitored the return to earth. Welcome back. Congratulations on a job well done
Those completing their mission were: Expedition 53 Commander Randy Bresnik of NASA. Flight Engineers Paolo Nespoli of ESA (European Space Agency) and Sergey Ryazanskiy of the Russian space agency Roscosmos.
This their journey:
They undocked their Soyuz MS-05 spacecraft from the space station at 05:14 a.m. GMT Thursday December 14. The landed in Kazakhstan at 8:38 a.m. GMT (2:38 p.m. Kazakhstan time).
– Farewell ceremony and hatch closing was at 0200 GMT (tx 0130-0220GMT).
– Undocking of the Soyuz MS-03 from the Rassvet ISS module was scheduled at 0516 GMT (tx 0500-0535GMT).
– Landing coverage itself started some 30 minutes before touch down. It happened in the steppes of Kazakhstan, scheduled at 0838 GMT, (tx 0800-0935GMT).
Their return concludes 139 days in space since their launch on July 28. During that time, they have supported hundreds of experiments in biology, biotechnology, physical science and Earth science aboard humanity’s only microgravity laboratory
