Perth Yacht Clubs Take On Clipper Race Challenge – local sailors mix with Clipper crew

Western Australia has fully embraced having the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race in town. The Clipper crew extended to six Perth Yacht Clubs the chance to try their hands at a Clipper 70. Seventy Two sailors jumped at the chance.

Big congratulations to the Cruising Yacht Club of Western Australia. They won the Inter-Club Regatta on board PSP Logistics. Also for Hillarys, South Perth, Claremont, Royal Perth, and our hosts, the Fremantle Sailing Club for taking part!

The Clipper crew were in the best location of Western Australia for sailing.  It is one of the biggest water sports of the State.

A chance to sail on the massive yachts must have been a huge thrill for the local sailors.  The weather looked perfect. Fremantle can be windy but for cruising the water it is great.

Australian Sailing Clubs are fantastic hosts. They would have loved the chance to jump on a 70 footer yacht.  But they would have their own skills and were able to demonstrate them while crewing the huge racers.
