The Ashes – Day Two.  England v Australia at the Gabba cricket ground Brisbane, Australia

The second day of the first Ashes Test in Brisbane was fascinating, leaving the match perfectly set up.  Video has summary and highlights.

No-one could have expected 10 wickets to have fallen by the first over after tea. As it turned out, there were no more, as Australia reached 165-4 in reply to England’s 302.

That England were bowled out for that total should be a lesson to Dawid Malan, who was the first to go in a morning-session collapse of six wickets for 56 runs.

England’s Dawid Malan hits a 50!  Fans love him. Keep it up.  The team needs the runs. Moeen is cheeky with the bat. Waiting for him to bat for more than a single.

Malan had the fielders chasing the ball.  They chased it to the fence.  Great Shot.

And there’s a wicket.  Malan has gone at 102.2 overs. Ooh not good.  Malan got caught out.  A good catch by Australia.

This is the kind of cricket expected throughout the day.  England on a high.  Runs building up. Balls sending Australian field players racing round the field. More balls are on their way.  Watch out

Gabba stadium is full.  Crowds out to enjoy and exciting day of cricket.  Weather forecast is sunshine.  Very hot sunshine.  No rain.

BT Sport streaming play throughout the day
