Cristiano Ronaldo Wins Best FIFA Male Player – the award was crown of the night – fans adore him

Cristiano Ronaldo was named the world’s best male player at the 2017 Best Fifa Football Awards in London.

The Real Madrid and Portugal forward beat Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and Paris St-Germain’s Neymar to the honour.

Ronaldo, 32, helped Real to a Champions League-La Liga double in 2016-17.

It was a glitzy occasion.  The ceremony saw a galaxy of footballing stars. They descended on a venue renowned for mixing British royalty. The location sparkles with the bright lights of the entertainment industry.

The new kings and queens of football were crowned at The Best FIFA Football Awards™ in London.

Lieke Martens of Barcelona and the Netherlands won best female player. Real Madrid’s Zinedine Zidane was named best men’s coach. Netherlands’ Sarina Wiegman the best female coach.

This is how the winners went:

  • Cristiano Ronaldo and Zinedine Zidane take home top men’s honours
  • Lieke Martens and Sarina Wiegman win top women’s gongs
  • Gianluigi Buffon named inaugural The Best FIFA Goalkeeper

Fans from around the globe voted in their hundreds of thousands for the Puskás and FIFA Fan Awards.  Frenchman Olivier Giroud won the Puskás. The superb ‘scorpion kick’ goal scored for Arsenal against Crystal Palace in the English Premier League clinched the award.

Celtic supporters scooped the second Fan Award. The stunning 360-degree card tribute to the ‘Lisbon Lions’ won the fans the trophy.

Football

The FIFA Awards are the most prestigious in the game. Players hope to be among the winners. Footballers who stand a chance play in top leagues. Skill of the game crucial. Football one of most popular sports worldwide. Players earn high salaries for their skills. Fans demand the best from the players when watching a game.

Hundreds of thousands watch during football season. Attending a game is the best. It can be expensive but worth the cost.  Watching on TV is an alternative.  Weekends booked up for matches. Families attend a game or make it a sofa watch. However, there is nothing better than being in the stalls. Home or away fans pack stadiums to support their team and players.
