Victoria and Abdul UK Premiere – the film arrives in cinemas September 15

Dame Judi Dench looked absolutely regal as she walked the red carpet in Leicester Square. Her glittering gown and matching coat looked totally royal.

Also on the red carpet the handsome co-star Ali Fazal.  His tall stature looked much different to the servant he plays in the film.

The couple were great together and easy to see why he was chosen for the part.

Director Stephen Frears had little trouble in casting Ali Fazal for the Adbul role. When Dame Judi saw him the two, he said, knew they would work well together

As Queen Victoria’s son Prince Edward, Eddie Izzard couldn’t resist the part. The Prince was a spoilt child who was eager to take over the reign.  He described his mother Victoria as insane.  This got an extremely sharp and strong reply from the Queen.

Large crowd of fans were there to welcome the stars of the movie.  Dame Judi was in demand for autographs and selfies. She enjoyed the connection and happy to help out with what they wanted.

Dame Judi plays long-reigning Queen Victoria in hotly-anticipated historical drama Victoria & Abdul. it charts the relationship between the monarch and Abdul Karim, an Indian man who became her servant and teacher.

The film has been praised by critics and expected to be a box office success when it goes on release across the nation. Dame Judi is outstanding and loved playing the role. Director, Stephen Frears described her as royalty on stage and screen.  He said she needed little direction and was the perfect Monarch. When he spoke to her it was as a friend.
