Children given free meals in school holidays – favourite is chicken nuggets and beans!
School children in some of the most deprived parts of Wales are getting free school meals during the summer holidays, paid for by the Welsh government.
It has put £500,000 of its education budget into these lunch clubs, which include all-day activities.
A report by MPs earlier this year said that up to three million children across the UK risked going hungry in the holidays.
The video shows children tucking into their food. Meals are given a thumbs-up. However there are some favourites. Bolognese is one, considered to be extremely tasty.
Then to help make things go down games and fun things to do are next. Parents are delighted with the lunch club. While food is offered the kids have a chance to be with friends. Food, free time and friends go together.
It is costly but worth the money. Welsh government took the decision to set-up the lunch clubs despite the cost. The idea considered worth it.
