Jogger Pushes Woman In Front of Bus – Putney Bridge, London

Met Police have eliminated Eric Bellquist from their investigation into the Putney Bridge incident.

He was arrested Thursday morning (10Aug) on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm. No further action will be taken against Bellquist.

Through his lawyers, Eric Bellquist, 41, categorically denied he was at the location and had irrefutable proof he was in the United States at the time.

CCTV was released of a jogger police wanted to trace after a woman was pushed into the path of a bus on Putney Bridge.

The woman was not seriously injured as the bus was travelling slowly on the bridge.  However, the driver saw the incident and was able to swerve missing her by inches.

Sgt Mat Knowles said: “It was only due to the superb quick reactions of the bus driver that she was not hit by the vehicle.”

The bus stopped and passengers were able to help the woman. It is understood her injuries were minor. The incident happened on the morning of 5 May at about 7.40.

Jogger ran the other way across the bridge around 15 minutes later.  The victim attempted to speak to the man, but he would not acknowledge the woman.

There was massive public response to the Police appeal for anyone who may recognise the man. It was a fine bright morning and releasing the footage would help track the jogger.
