Andy Murray Wins Thriller Against Fabio Fognini
Defending champion Andy Murray won a thrilling third-round contest against Italy’s Fabio Fognini at Wimbledon as darkness fell around Centre Court.
The Briton, 30, won 6-2 4-6 6-1 7-5 after two hours and 39 minutes, with match point clinched at 20:57 BST.
Fognini, the 29th seed, had five set points to force a fifth set but Murray won five games in a row to seal a place in the last 16 for the 11th time.
It was an exciting match to watch with the crowd roaring their support for Murray.
There were times when tempers got edgy and both players made challenges against umpire calls. But it all added to the stunning performances.
Fabio was a threatening opponent and came close to beating the Champion. There were times when he appeared to be ready throw his racquet away!
However, it was an amazing match and the crowd were just thrilled. Centre Court was packed and so was the Hill outside.
Wimbledon has been an outstanding season so far for TeamGB.
Murray will play Frenchman Benoit Paire in the fourth round on Monday.
