All Eyez On Me: California Love – catch the trailer for the recording of the Tupac song – arrives in cinemas June 30.

Discovered at a Bay Area poetry workshop, Tupac lands a solo deal with Interscope Records and his first movie role in Juice.

Despite his success he became entangled in a string of arrests, financial problems and gunfights. It all comes to a head in November 1994 when Tupac is shot five times in the lobby of New York City’s Quad Recording Studios.  He survives, discharges himself from hospital and goes to court in a wheelchair.

Surrounded by crime, drugs and imprisonment, rap kept him in the charts.  One song stood out  that Tupac recorded for the album All Eyez On Me.  He recorded California Love which became a worldwide hit.

Tupac sold more than 75 million records worldwide

All Eyez On Me movie coincides with what would have been Tupac’s 46th birthday.

He was shot in his car by a drive-by gunman.  Tupac later died in hospital.  He was 25 years old.

Demetrius Shipp Jr plays the immensely wild singer and has been praised for his portrayal.
