Joanna Lumley Gets Top Award at TV BAFTAS. She was honoured with the Fellowship accolade for her “outstanding and exceptional contribution to film and television”.
The Absolutely Fabulous actress was absolutely fabulous when she walked on the stage at the Royal Festival Hall to receive her award. It was Jennifer Laurence who handed her the great looking BAFTA prize.
They have been working partners for some years especially with the role of champagne-swigging magazine boss Patsy Stone in the BBC TV comedy.
Joanna’s beauty, poise and comic style has won her fans across the world. She began her career as a model but was determined to become an actress.
She was advised against it. But was not put off and worked her way to making it in the world of TV and film. It was performances in comedy that highlighted her talent.
Her career has spanned more than 40 years. The actress has had TV roles not only in comedy but also drama such as The New Avengers. Miss Lumley expanded her talent and took on documentaries about the Gurkhas and India. She said: “Nothing could make me prouder or happier than being awarded this phenomenal honour.”
Fans from across the nation have been congratulating her and it is said she is celebrating with champagne! So, it’s likely that following the award ceremony the night will turn out to be one big party.
The Fellowship award is the highlight of the TV BAFTAs. There was a huge crowd to watch Joanna Lumley’s cream come true.
