Theresa May praises Police bravery in London attack. It happened in the area of the Palace of Westminster
Prime Minister delivered her strong and resolute statement outside Number 10 Downing Street. She described the police as having “exceptional bravery” and paid tribute to the emergency services.
They risk their lives she said to “keep us safe’ and bring “security to our streets”.
Mrs May stated that the location of the attack was no accident. The terrorists chose to strike at the heart of the Capital. A city where people of all nationalities, religions and cultures come to together to celebrate the values of “liberty, democracy and freedom of speech.”
She ended her statement by saying: “We will all move forward together. Never giving up to terror. And never allowing the voices of hate and evil to drive us apart.”
An attacker drove into a crowd of people on Westminster Bridge injuring at least 40 people. A woman fell into the River Thames. She was saved by emergency services.
He charged into Parliament yard with a knife and attacked a police officer. He died and so did the attacker who was shot dead by security forces.
Police authorities believe they know who the attacker is and believe they will be able to give more information in the near future.
Terror threat in the UK remains at the level of severe.
Londoners and visitors say they will continue their every day life and will not allow terrorist acts to stop them from their way of life.
