Super Bowl Astronaut Throws Football and breaks record. The ‘stunt’ was admired by fans across America and the rest of the world.

Watch how the great ball sails through the space station and reaches 564,644 yards in no time at all!  It was a great performance ahead of the 2017 Super Bowl performance.

NASA has released a video of the International Space Station crew preparing to watch the Super Bowl from 250 miles above Earth.  The football throw was a salute to the big Game and to let those on earth know they had not forgotten

NASA, ESA and Russia have astronauts on board the International Space Station.  They now there is a lot of scientific work to be done while they are there.

There is time to have a little fun.  For the Americans Super Bowl Sunday is a massively important day in American sport.  A football appeared – must’ve been stashed away somewhere – and it made sense to use it to experiment its speed and distance after a throw.

Control gave the go-ahead in time to perform the experiment before the Game.  You can imagine how excited everyone must have been.  The space ship travels at amazing speed.  Would it work?  WATCH

Super Bowl Sunday February 5 2017.  Who will win between New England Patriots or Atlanta Falcons.  Kick-off is 23:30 GMT expected to finish 03:30.

Erm, someone forgot about frames of reference.
If you think the ball is traveling that far simply because the space station orbits the earth at 17,000 miles per hour, then you would also think that Tom Brady throws a football at 67,080 miles per hour (since the Earth travels around the Sun at 67,000 mph).
Oh and the sun travels around the center of the milky way at 515,000 mph.
And the milky way is traveling around the galactic cluster at 2,160,000 mph. Etc.
So no — if you throw a football inside a space station, the only speed that is relevant is the speed of the football relative to the space station.

Hello, Thank you for connecting. The data is baffling as well as fascinating. All of it is difficult to understand but visually good fun. Rosie Hayes, Editor
