Writer: Christopher Nolan

Dunkirk has a cavalcade of British and Irish talent.  Tom Hardy, Mark Rylance, Cillian Murphy, Kenneth Branagh and guess who? Harry Styles from One Direction.

There were raised eyebrows when the heart-throb was cast in the film.  Would he crash or burn or would he be a great success in the movie?

Fans of the pop singer can’t wait to see him in the WWII epic.   It is likely that many of them don’t know what Dunkirk is all about.  This is not stopping them from being excited that he is in a big screen movie. They will have to do some research.

Young fans took to twitter about the new trailer featuring Styles but they were curious about Dunkirk

Christopher Nolan also directed the ‘Dark Knight’ trilogy, of brain-bamboozling sci-fi thriller Inception, and of the equally far out space adventure Interstellar.

His movies make money – more than $4.2bn (£3.3bn) at the global box office – and studio Warner Bros has duly stumped up the cash for what is expected to be the most ambitious historical war movie since the glory years of Steven Spielberg and Oliver Stone.

Nolan was even reportedly given $5m to spend on a vintage Nazi war plane. It is said to have cheerfully smashed to smithereens for the film’s denouement.

The Christopher Nolan touch sees a number of bombs dropped.  Expect plenty of battles by land and sea as well as a lot of shots of soldiers staring up at the sky
