West Side story musical a huge success on Broadway and the UK. It is on the road!

From November 2016, Joey McKneely’s award-wining staging of West Side Story, will take to the road again for a global tour.  It is the only production in the world to currently feature Jerome Robbins’ original choreography.

It tells of the provocative finger snapping street gangs, the Puerto Rican girls’ swirling skirts on New York City’s flat roofs and derelict West Side back yards.  The Leonard Bernstein’s world-famous score, feature songs such as Maria, Tonight, Somewhere, America and I Feel Pretty.

The story of the Jets and the Sharks set in Manhattan has been attracting audiences since it was first produced in the late 1950s.

At its 1957 Broadway premiere the musical redefined an entire genre both musically and in terms of dance. The genius of its four creators – Leonard Bernstein, Jerome Robbins, Arthur Laurents and Stephen Sondheim – produced a piece whose great artistic quality remains unquestioned to this day.
