Brexit: Pay to Travel to Europe
British citizens may have to apply online to travel to Europe after the UK leaves the EU. The idea is among plans being drawn up by the Union.
They favour a visa waiver system similar to the US procedure. Currently, UK nationals must show a valid passport to enter the zone but can then travel freely within it. There would be a payment for the waiver.
Currently as members of the EU but not part of Schengen, UK nationals must show a valid passport to enter the bloc but can then travel freely within it.
But after Brexit, British citizens could have to apply through the planned EU travel information and authorisation system (Etias). This would mean a payment to visit.
Last year, more than 30million Brits made holiday trips to Spain and France the most popular destinations.
How do you feel about having to pay to visit European nations? Would you be happy to do it?
