Paul Blake Wins Britains 50th Gold. He didn’t know he had helped raise the medal tally to the big fifty!

Three-time world champion Paul Blake won Great Britain’s 50th gold medal of the Rio Paralympics with victory in the T36 400m.

Blake, 26, led from the start to win in 54.49 seconds and improve on his silver medal from London 2012.

Ukraine’s Roman Pavlyk won silver, edging out New Zealander William Stedman by 0.02secs.

Dorchester-born Blake, who has cerebral palsy, will hope to add 800m gold to his medal tally on Saturday.

He was fantastic to watch and the spectators gave him huge applause as he went through finish line
