Paralympics Magic Megan wins first GOLD for Team GB and OF THE GAMES at Rio 2016.

Paralympics Magic Megan Giglia won GOLD in the 3km, easily beating USA’s Jamie Whitmore. She only needed just shy of 2,000 metres as she caught and then breezed past the American to secure Paralympic gold.

Now, that should set the tone for the evening!

There was a massive roar from the crowd as they watched the magnificent magic Megan race past her competitor to win gold.

Megan was overjoyed with her win and wasn’t sure she could dot it. ย But she did and claimed the first gold ParalympicsGB.

She said: “It hasn’t sunk in yet – I wouldn’t be here without my team-mates, my coach and my family. ย “I thought getting to Rio was a bit ambitious but I’d give it a go anyway.”

It was an ย exciting day. ย The atmosphere is full of fun and enjoyment. ย There were large crowds of people arriving to catch the events of the day. ย Many were saying that the stadium was empty but not true! ย It filled pretty quickly and great sport was watched.
