Meet Team GB Sailors heading for Rio
Giles Scott wins 5th gold at Rio 2016 and there was Gold for Hannah Mills and Saskia Clark.
The British Olympic Association has announced the very first athletes to join Team GB for Rio 2016. A total of eight have been selected and you can watch them in action in the video as they competed in trials in Rio de Janeiro. The Team GB Sailors include Olympic Gold medalists and World Champions. The BOA says it’s the start of a creation of what is likely to be a 350 strong Team GB in Rio 2016.
British sailors have established a proud tradition of excellence in Olympic competition. They’ve won 55 medals – including 26 golds – since sailing made its debut at Paris 1900 with Team GB topping the overall Olympic sailing medal table.
Team GB is calling on the nation to BRING ON THE GREAT in the run-up to Rio 2016 and at the Games themselves. Also, fans invited to send in good luck messages by visiting TeamGB.com and joining the new Team GB Club. They’ll be displayed on flags given to the athletes travelling to Rio.
