Paralympic sailing champion Helena Lucas MBE the first GB athlete to be selected for Rio 2016.  She won Bronze in her sailing event 17 September.

Helena made sailing history at London’s 2012 Paralympian Games.  She won the top medal in the mainly male dominated 2.4mR class becoming Britain’s first ever Paralympic sailing gold medallist.

Despite some sponsorship Helena needed to raise more funds to help get herself and the boats to Rio. We caught up with her in Portland Yacht Club to find out how the sailor was doing.

We found she was doing preparatory work on her boat.  She said she is used to it although there are times when her coach will give her a hand.  Helena also said, she was being given great support from the Yacht Club where she keeps her boat.

Helena who was born with no thumbs and limited extension in her arms, is aiming for another gold at Rio 2016.  However, on the day of her race in Rio she came in third place and award Bronze
