Human Trafficking How To Spot The Signs – closer than you think

Human Trafficking How To Spot The Signs.  October 12, 2016, the Prime Minister pledged £33m to boost the fight against slavery. Theresa May also set-up a new task force.

Up to 13,000 victims thought to be slaves in the UK.  These figures released when Mrs May was Home Minister.

The stats also showed women were forced into prostitution.  Also “imprisoned” as domestic staff and workers in fields, factories and fishing boats.

Charity

However, the public is taking action. A charity that targets modern day slavery and trafficking has launched a campaign called Spot The Signs.

The Croydon Community Against Trafficking said they want people to inform and report any suspicions they may have to the police.

Charity has set-up a group called Your Community Against Human Trafficking (YCAHT) that has volunteer Intelligence Gatherers.

They offer guidance on how to spot the signs of modern slavery. This is done in urban and rural neighbourhoods.

Watch out for houses that are closed or have a pile of empty food packets left outside as rubbish. Curtains always drawn.  These are tell tail signs.  Do not ignore if suspicious. Pick up the phone and call.

Have you seen any?  Would you pass on the information?  Or would you rather not get involved?  Do you have suspicious neighbours?  Should we just mind our own business?  Should we let it happen?  Time to tell?

Phone

The Charity has a special telephone number the public can call: 0800 0121 700.  Anyone can speak anonymously with any information they may have on human trafficking especially if they Spot the Signs.
