The first scheduled commercial vessel to dock at the new deep-water port was from South Africa – and more are coming.
Thousands of jobs
Not long ago, three new giant cranes arrived from China for London Gateway on the Thames Estuary. The site is near Stanford-le-Hope in Essex. The cranes are taller than the London Eye, the arch of Wembley Stadium and two and a half times the height of Nelson’s Column making them the biggest of their kind in the world.
London Gateway is promising thousands of jobs and an unrivalled efficiency in the freight market. Video courtesy London Gateway.
