Community Reporters Mobilised In The City – began in Leicester

Mobilising Community Reporters - coffee morning

Every Tuesday community reporters gather at a coffee bar in the heart of Leicester.

They go there to hold editorial meetings organised by the news agency Citizens’ Eye. It has not been operating for long.  From the beginning it has proved successful

Community reporters

Anyone from the City can attend.  The Managing Editor, John Coster, rallies the group and encourages them to discuss and contribute ideas and stories to the agency.   John Coster’s aim is to offer a news service to the area using community reporters to cover events and issues of the stories of the population.

There are events that are ‘missed’ by regular news agencies and these can now be covered or heard by the local journalist.

Local reporting

The initiative led to the local BBC Radio News station inviting Citizens’ Eye journalists into their newsroom so that they can develop skills in news coverage.  Local reporting is fast becoming a much needed service and can be found in communities across the country. went to meet the team in Leicester City

    Good Day,

I like this mobilization and I think it could be good to roll-out it to many areas including other countries like Lesotho.
