An Italian court has found Amanda Knox and former boyfriend guilty for the murder of Meredith Kercher her British room mate in 2007.

The American said she would not attend the Florence court in the country that jailed her – she says wrongly – for four years..

Knox has expressed interest in visiting the grave of Meredith Kercher, but, in a carefully worded statement issued through their Italian lawyer, the British family made it clear Knox’s presence would not be welcome. “It took us as a family nearly five years to even begin to feel ready to lay Mez to rest and it is still extremely painful now,” said her elder sister Stephanie

Supreme court in Rome had ruled that Amanda Knox and Raffaele Sollecito will face a retrial for the murder of Meredith Kercher.  The freedom of Knox was a controversial issue among Meredith’s family.  She was murdered in Perugia, Italy in 2007. In a book Meredith’s father John Kercher gives his side of the story.

Amanda Knox has also published a book.  The  American, who was a flatmate of Meredith, and her ex-boyfriend Sollecito were cleared in 2011 of killing the British student. She also claims her innocence.  Here’s reaction from some in London.
