Dumped old fridges were cleaned up and decorated so that they could be lined up to make an intriguing backdrop for the crowded cinema evening.
Not far away was the Olympic Stadium which overlooked a setting where refrigerators were used to create a pop up cinema showing a summer of great sporting films.
The Games site was once a huge industrial wasteland for the refrigerators that have ended up on the walls of the cinema. Thousands of dumped sections had to be removed and placed elsewhere to make room for the massive stadium.
But from it emerged the idea of a project called Films on Fridges. Volunteers were called in to help with restoring the abandoned items and give them a new look. Project was backed by Scout Ltd and Hackney Picturehouse. ynuk.tv joined a crowd at the fridge cinema
